Manchester United midfielder joins Scunthorpe United

Midfielder Redmond has joined the Iron on loan from Manchester United until January. Redmond has developed into a central midfielder, a position manager Graham Alexander is keen to strengthen with only Neal Bishop, Funso Ojo and Sam Mantom the recognised central midfielders in the first team squad. Redmond ended 2013-14 with four goals in 19 starts, before playing 29 times the following season scoring once in a 5-2 victory over Manchester City. He then graduated to the under-21s notching four goals in 21 appearances and scored the same amount in 26 games he played last season. Redmond will take the number 18 shirt and could be in contention to play some part in the Iron's final pre-season friendly game against Luton tomorrow.
